Rules - Pushpasadan Boarding Secondary School

Literally, system means a set of method or procedures applied to achieve something. School being the very important institution dedicated to build up the overall character of a student so as to make him/her a good and successful human being of the nation, needs a proper system for the smooth functioning.

Our school has developed its system over a period of over 30 years, understanding and respecting the feelings of every student. Any student willing to study in this school must abide by the following rules and regulations.

Academic Rules & Regulations

Every student is expected to come to school clean and smart, wearing proper school uniform prescribed by the school as below:
Sunday to Wednesday: White shirt, skin colour pants/skirt, tie belt, black laced shoes (chained, Dingo and any other fancy boots are discouraged). Coffee brown sweaters (for all) or brown jackets (for lower classes) or coat (for higher classes) have to be worn during cold seasons.
Thursday and Friday: Housewise shirt, Housewise Track suit, white school name marked socks, black canvas shoes. (Tie is not required).
In cold seasons, coffee brown caps, gloves and mufflers prescribed by the school can be worn with usual school uniform.
Boy students have to keep short suitable hair and girl students must plait their hair two sides with white ribbons compulsorily from Sunday to Wednesday. On Thursdays and Fridays, girls should make pony-tails tying with black rubber-band. Girls having short hair must wear white hair band on their head. All students must have nicely oiled and combed hair. Unnecessary fancy hair dye is forbidden.
No student is allowed to come to school wearing or bringing any kind of valuable ornaments or cosmetics. The school shall not be responsible for loss of such materials in case brought.
There will be regular check-up and marking on the cleanliness and tidiness of the students in the assembly line by the concerned captains/moderators.
The prescribed ID Cards should compulsorily be worn by every student on all school days and hours and as long as they are in school uniform.

All students must come to school on time, i.e., before the first assembly bell rings. Students coming late are motivated to come in time. Once a student has arrived at school, he/she is not supposed to go out without permission.
Any student requiring to go home earlier should get grant from the In-charges on a written note in the school diary from the parent/guardian. Any student taking half leave from school because of sudden sickness can go home but his/her parent has to inform the school by phone or letter about the student later.

All students should keep their books and exercise books clean, tidy in brown paper cover and they should themselves take care of their things. The school shall not be responsible for any loss. No student is allowed to bring any kind of magazines, autographs, comics, cell phones, i-pads, etc. unless demanded by the lesson and asked by the subject teachers.

All students are expected to take care of school property and co-operate with the school in its protection. In case any student is found intentionally damaging the school property, compensation against it will be taken from that student as a fine.

Students are highly encouraged to ask the concerned subject teacher if the lesson taught is not understood in spite of paying attention in the lesson. If majority of the students in the class do not understand the teacher or the teacher does not respond positively on the request to re-explain the lesson according to the necessity, it should be informed to the In-charge or the Principal through monitor of the class but in no case are students allowed to behave badly with the teacher.

All students have to do the classwork, homework and correction work regularly as given by the teachers. If a student repeatedly fails to do the work, the parent(s) will be called to school.
The homework must be mentioned in the homework diary and get signed by the concerned responsible guardian and class teacher everyday.
Any student if absent shall not be excused in homework or vacation work. In case of absence on the day on which work is given, he/she will have to consult his/her nearest friend and complete the work in time.
In case the assignment is not finished in time due to sickness, extra time may be given. If still not completed, parents will be called.
From class 5 onwards, the students will have to prepare notes in all the subjects maintaining in hard cover ex-books. The notes must be done fairly in neat handwriting and checked duly by their subject teachers and then signed by the level in-charges.

The school encourages talking in English medium within the school compound and within school hours. No student is expected to talk in any other language except in the language class as long as they are in the school uniform. The student not abiding by this rule shall be fined with Rs.100 after giving warnings as a motivation action.

All students must be polite, gentle and helpful towards their companions. They should know how to respect seniors and love juniors and be cooperative to all.
All students must be respectful and obedient to all the (senior and junior) teachers and other staff of the school.
Students are responsible to the school authorities not only for their conduct in the school but also for their general behaviour outside. Serious misconduct may lead to immediate expulsion.

The school conducts morning prayer assembly on the ground with specific prayers and songs on different days. Students not chanting Saraswati prayer due to religious restriction may chant their own prayer. All students are expected to attend the assembly.
There will be a 2 minutes’ silent sitting in the beginning and the end of the classes in the morning and afternoon.

A student must appear in all the unit/class tests and terminal and final examinations compulsorily. Tests/Exams shall not be repeated for any student remaining absent during the regular tests/exams.

The school does not encourage any student for taking any private tuition but in case necessary, they should make the arrangement on their own. The school arranges extra tuition for boarders and day-boarders only.

The school has four houses. Each house is responsible for cleanliness, discipline, board decoration, and news reading in assembly on a rotational basis.
Special assemblies will be conducted as per the yearly schedule.
All extra-curricular activities will be adjudged and winners rewarded at the end of the session.
March pass performance is recorded and a trophy is awarded to the best house.
Class monitors change every term. Marks will be deducted for not performing duties properly.

On the basis of the number of students, sections are made of the same class and section change of the students will be made after each term according to the necessity. The students will have to accept it normally. Sections are divided on the basis of the number of students and not on the basis of intelligence.

The students can follow print pattern of English handwriting. Those who know proper pattern of cursive handwriting can follow it if they wish.

Any student not satisfied with the teaching or behaviour of any teacher and the activities of the school administration has the right to make a personal visit to the principal stating appropriate reason. The necessary action will be taken if the complaint is found true and valid.

All the students taking the school bus will be given the seat. No student is allowed to change his/her seat unless done by the bus teacher.
In case of any students compelled to stand up, senior students should give seats to juniors.
The bus duty teachers will check the uniforms of the students.
Any student wanting to take or leave the school bus facility must inform the school in advance.

Students can go to toilet or to drink water during the 3rd and the 6th periods one at a time in turn only. Health-related problems should be informed to the teacher.
Seats will not be reserved for the late comers in the new academic sessions unless pre-informed.
Students getting full or half free privilege in their fees should prove themselves fit for this privilege in studies and manners.
In case of any accidental injury during games/sports, the school shall bear Rs. 5,000.00 at maximum as preliminary treatment charge.

System to be Followed During Examinations

There will be lesson-wise tests of each class and subject as scheduled by the school system. There will be four terminal examinations in a year and promotion will be decided by the accumulation of the marks obtained.
There won't be re-exams for any students remaining absent during the first three terminal exams. For final term, re-exam can be managed for maximum three subjects with satisfactory evidence.
The school follows the exam/evaluation system as per the directives published by CDC, Sanothimi with necessary changes (effective from 2080 B.S.).
Admit cards will be compulsory for SKG and above.
Students must arrive on time. No extra time will be given.
Every student must bring his/her own stationery. Borrowing is not allowed.
Students are not expected to bring any books, magazines or printed materials except the admit card.
As soon as the answer sheet is received, students must write name, class, section, roll number, date and subject correctly.
Students must keep enough margin on the answer sheet (at least one inch).
Students must not write anything on the admit card, question papers or blotting papers except corrections.
Unfair means will result in being kept outside the hall for 15 minutes, parent call, apology letter and confession in assembly. Work will be cancelled.
No helping or obtaining help from others. Violation leads to disqualification and expulsion from the exam.
Marks are reserved for neat and tidy presentation and good handwriting (4 marks for 100-mark paper, 3 for 75, 2 for 50).
Toilet visits are not allowed during exam except in emergency (report to in-charge).
Answer sheets and additional papers must be stitched as soon as the warning bell rings.
Once papers are submitted and the student leaves, he/she cannot re-enter.
If any exam is postponed due to unavoidable circumstances, it will be held after the last day’s exam.
Report cards must be collected by parents/guardians on the Result Distribution Day with the student present.
Report cards not collected within one week may not be kept safe. Student will not be allowed to sit in the new session without the final mark-sheet.
Promotion decisions for students failing in one or more subjects are final.
A failure student willing to shift to another school shall not be issued a ‘PASS’ mark-sheet and certificate.
Any student who fails in the same class for two years in succession shall not be allowed to continue his/her study in the school.
Scholarship holders must maintain 1st or 2nd position to continue receiving scholarship.

Bond of Agreement
All students and parents/guardians must read, understand and sign the Bond of Agreement declaring their commitment to abide by all the above rules and regulations (and any future amendments) for the academic welfare of the students and the school.

These rules are introduced/refined for the all-round progress of every student. The school always welcomes positive suggestions from students, parents and teachers.
